As we reported last week, the future of EPT Moscow looked uncertain because of a decision by the Russian Ministry of Youth, Sport and
Tourism to remove poker from its list of official sports. PokerStars have now confirmed that EPT Moscow has been cancelled and will be replaced by a tournament in Kiev.
The new "EPT Kiev Sports Poker Championship" will take place from August 18-23 and will mark the start of this seasons European Poker Tour. Kiev is the largest city and the capital of Ukraine and the new tournament will feature a €5,000 Main Event which will take place at the Sports Palace Kiev.
Players who had already qualified online for EPT Moscow can convert their packages (including buy-in and hotel) to EPT Kiev packages. They can also opt to receive the cash equivalent value or take a credit for a future event
The good news is that citizns of the US, Canada or the European Union do not require a visa when travelling to the Ukraine for less than 90 days.
