The European Poker Tour (EPT) Season 5 Deauville was won by Moritz Kranich, a 28 year old online pro from Germany. Kranich, the only PokerStars qualifier at the final table, came out on top after a tough heads up with France's Arnaud Esquevin.
Kranich took home the €851,400 winner's check after outlasting a field
of 645 players to claim the title. “It’s amazing to win this event. I
never imagined when I got here on
Tuesday that this would happen. I’m very, very happy,” said Kranich.
The EPT returned to France after taking a 3 years hiatus, due to
French gaming laws which made it difficult for the tournament to take
place. This years €5,350 buy in tournament took place at Barrière Poker
at Casino de Deauville and delivered a record field and prize pool
(€3,096,000).
