Party Poker, the onetime giant of online poker, may be making a return to the lucrative U.S. market in the not too distant future. The online poker room has hinted at a possible return if the Obama administration succeeds in relaxing the draconian online gambling laws.
Recent developments have given PartyPoker reason to be optimistic, they are particularly encouraged by Jim McDermott and Barney Frank’s efforts to push through a new bill to regulate online gambling. If the congressmen were to succeed, PartyPoker (who have already set-up operations in LA) could make a triumphant return to the U.S market as early as this year.
PartyGaming, the parent company of PartyPoker, pulled out of the United States back in 2006, following the enactment of the Unlawful Internet gambling Enforcement Act. “We are seeing increased momentum towards regulating online poker,” said PartyPoker CEO Jim Ryan. “It’s possible that it could happen this year and we’re prepared if it does.”
