Poker Networks Begin Blocking Access To Kentucky Residents

Oct 28, 2008 - 11:49:01 AM

Merge Poker was the first Poker Network to publicly announce that they would be blocking IP addresses of Kentucky residents to any of their poker rooms. Microgaming Poker Network has has followed suit, announcing that they too will begin blocking Kentucky residents, starting from Oct 30, 2008.

The decision comes after Judge Thomas Wingate last week upheld the seizure order for 141 online gambling domain names requested by Kentucky Governor Beshear, with a caveat- to avoid having their domain name seized, the sites have until November 17, 2008 to prove they block access to Kentucky residents.

The Microgaming Poker Network includes such poker rooms as Doyles Room and Ladbrokes Poker while Merge Poker Network includes Carbon Poker
