Two new Andorid, BlackBerry and iPhone poker apps have been released in the last quarter of 2011.  Terminal Poker and mFortune have both released real money poker apps for a range of smartphones and tablets.

Terminal Poker were the first mobile poker room to develop a cross platform poker app that works on Androids, iPads and iPhones.  The Terminal Poker app functions in a similar way to the now defunkt Rush Poker app, by selecting players from a giant pool so as to eliminate waiting times. With the new Terminal Poker app, mobile poker players can expect to play 250+ hands per hour compared to just 50+ at a regular poker room.

mFortune joined the mobile poker party a month later when they released a cross platform Texas Hold’em app that could be played on Androids, iPhones, iPads and also BlackBerrys.  Mfortune is the first and only BlackBerry compatible real money poker app.

It is hardly surprising that both of these mobile poker apps have been developed to be played from smartphone and tablet browsers.  Firstly, by creating web based apps poker rooms avoid the costs of developing 3 separate poker apps for iOS, Android and BlackBerry mobile platforms.  Secondly, they don’t need to get their apps approve by either Apple or Google to appear in the iTunes App Store or Android Market.

2012 also looks set to be an excellent year for mobile poker, with a plethora of new poker apps being released by Titan Poker, Betfair, Paddy Power, PokerStars, William Hill, Bet365, 888 Poker, Winner Poker.
