PokerStars Break Record For Largest Online Tournament

Dec 29, 2008 - 11:48:26 AM

The World's largest poker room, PokerStars, has entered the records books (again) by hosting the worlds largest online tournament. The poker room easily broke their previous Guinness World Record of 20,000 by attracting a field of 35,000 simultaneous players on Sunday, Dec. 28th.

Each player started with 3,000 in chips, while the overall winner, stan34powa, took home $30,000. The record breaking $11 buy-in event took over 9 hours to complete with 8,750 players sharing in the $500,000 guaranteed prize pool.

Considering the scale of the event, very few problems were reported in a tournament which stretched the PokerStars servers to their full capacity, and cemented their reputation as the worlds largest poker room.

The final table results were as follows:

1st. stan34powa — $30,000
2nd. meiky777 — $20,000
3rd. rumred14 — $15,000
4th. Goldman007 — $10,000

7th. n0ideahh — $3,500
