WPT Celebrity Invitational Won By Poker Pro Freedy Deeb

The 7th Annual World Poker Tour Celebrity Invitational took place at the Commerce Casino in Los Angles this weekend. The $200,000 freeroll event attracted a field of 433 players, made up of a wide range of poker players, including many big name poker professionals, celebrities, athletes and VIPs.

The tournament was in aid of The Vine Group, who are a "non profit organisation set up to provide educational assistance in the forms of scholarships, textbooks, and technological equipment to academic institutions in various english-speaking countries in Africa."

This years event raised a total of $112,000 for the organisation and the money was presented to the organisation by ER actor Mekhi Phifer, who is also Chairman of The Vine Group USA.

The WPT tournament was eventually won by poker pro Freddy Deeb, who came out on top against actor Nick Gonzalez to take the $100,000 first prize. Deeb generously donated $34,000 for his winning to the charity organisation.

Some of the celebrities taking part included, Mekhi Phifer, Don Cheadle, Tia Carrere, Ray Romano, Joel Madden, Jon Hamm, Brad Garrett, Michael Vartan, Jennifer Tilly, Oliver Hudson, Danny Masterson, Benji Madden, Nicky Hilton, Camryn Manheim, supermodel Helena Houdova, Ricki Lake, Marlon Wayans, Shannon Elizabeth, Lou Diamond Philips, Jose Canseco, Vanessa Branch and Shanna Moekler.

Poker pros such as Chris "Jesus" Ferguson, Mike Matusow, Mike Sexton, Phil Laak, Antonio Esfandiari, Chip Jett, Andy Bloch, Gavin Smith, Jaime Gold, Erik Seidel, Hoyt Corkins and Humberto Brenes we also spotted at the event.

3rd Place: Tom Hall - $20,000
4th Place: Scott Clements - $15,000
5th Place: Ottavio Tassone - $10,000
6th Place: Jose “J.J.” Tavares - $5,000
