The World Poker Tour WPT continues to extend it global reach with the announcement of a Slovakian event later this year.  The €4,000 WPT Solvakia event will take place in Bratislava from August 31st - September 5th.

The 2009 World Poker Tour came to a close last night when Yevgeniy "Jovial Gent" Timoshenko became the second youngest player ever to take the title.  After 8 days of play the 21 year old walked away with the $2,149,960 first prize and his first WPT braclet.

The World Poker Tour, who have already announced stops in the Italian city of Venice and the Moroccan city of Marrakech, have added 2 new dates to their already busy events schedule.

Italy will play host to the World Poker Tour for the first time in its history this summer when the northern city of Venice will stage the WPT main-event from May-6th through to May-10th.

The World Poker Tour have announced that a WPT Event will be staged in Africa for the first time this year.  WPT Marrakech will take place at Morocco’s famous Casino de Marrakech this October.

The 7th Annual World Poker Tours Celebrity Invitational took place at the Commerce Casino in Los Angles this weekend.  The $200,000 freeroll event attracted a field of 433 players, made up of a wide range of poker players, including many big name poker professionals, celebrities, athletes and VIPs.

When the 8th season of the World Poker Tour returns to our TV screens later this year, it will once again be broadcast on the Fox Sports Network. A deal was announced today between the WPT and the cable network which will see them extend their broadcast agreement for at least another year.

Following weeks of speculation, the World Poker Tour (WPT) have officially announced that the Borgata Poker Open has been removed from their tour schedule for Season VII.  The popular $10,000 main event tournament was due to take place at the end of January and be broadcast on the cable TV station Fox Sports Net.
